Design Favorites-April 2023

For the month of April, our design favorites have been a bit of a mixed bag. From an AirTag mount to a candle that uses water vapor—there's something on the list for every design enthusiast. However, like any good design, they all solve a problem and aim to improve the life of the user.

Fabric AirTag

The Tagvault: Fabric created by Elevation Lab is a first-of-its-kind fabric-based Airtag mount that can adhere to any textile surface. For example, you can attach it to a backpack, jacket, or any possession you do not want to lose. And, your AirTag is securely contained inside—not just loose in a bag. We also love how discreet the overall design is.

We will certainly be purchasing!

Inuru, a semiconductor manufacturing company based in Berlin, Germany, designs smart labels and packaging that illuminate—making for a more luxurious and safe products. Their patented Elf technology is an efficient light that can be customized for medical, apparel, and marketing applications.

We personally love the Inuru medication label, which features light-up warnings and signals to help patients with dosage control and instructions.

BottleCup

BottleCup, designed with the help of award-winning firm SeymourPowell, is a reusable coffee cup and water bottle in one unit. BottleCup is an entirely plastic-free, integrated bottle that aims to assist in a zero-waste, on-the-go lifestyle. The real perk here is the fact that you don’t have to carry two cups around the office all day! Less hassle, less dishes. We like the sound of that.

Liquid Metal Fabric

Research scientists at Flinders University in Australia have developed a breathable liquid metal that can coat fabrics. This layer can actually “heal itself”, prevent the growth of bacteria, and conduct electricity. This is a big development in smart textile technology!

The plan for the future, according to the researchers, is to integrate this liquid metal coating into textiles. We look forward to following this process.

Water Vapor Candle

Jetflame, designed by industrial design firm Whipsaw and Illure Candle, is the world’s first and only water vapor candle. With this candle, the fire hazard worries go out the window!

The best part is, this candle is rechargeable, better for your health, and better for the plant. What’s not to love?
